UK based novelist Vikram Sethi (Sidharth) is a prime suspect in two murders. One, of his wife Catherine and another of Mayaâs (Sonakshi) husband Shekhar. While he has been pleading not guilty, Maya has been accusing him of killing her husband. For investigating officer Dev (Akshaye), both are suspects till he unearths the truth and finds Vikramâs motive behind killing Shekhar. Both Sidharth and Mayaâs versions of the night when it all happened are believable, leaving you confused about who the real killer is. Are they really innocent or is one of them lying? Could there be a third person whoâs actually committed the crime? Does the police truly want to nab the killer or just close this high profile case ASAP? If it's set in Delhi like Vicky Donor, then he's even more at ease. But in Badhaai Ho in which he plays the eldest son, Nakul, who avoids public eye after he learns that his mother is expecting, Khurrana doesn't deliver the best embarrassed performance. That honour goes to Gajraj Rao as the caring husband to Priyamvada aka Bubbly (Neena Gupta) who has to break the news.<br/><br/>Rao, best known for being a regular on The Viral Fever sketches, never misses a beat as Jeetu Kaushik, the patriarch who finds himself negotiating the wrath of not only his mother (Surekha Sikri in badass mode) and his two sons but also the glares and gossip of relatives and neighbours.<br/><br/>Badhaai Ho works best when writer Akshat Ghildial sticks to capturing the myriad reactions - shock, amusement, anger and scorn - to an unplanned pregnancy in a couple least likely to. It's in the first half while capturing the minutiae of middle class life in the Kaushik household that the family comedy registers its finest moments.<br/><br/>")
