The car's light curb weight has been designed to optimize handling. The company claims the Evija weighs just over 3,700 pounds, making it the lightest EV hypercar to ever enter production. The Evija can reach a top speed of more than 200 mph, and Lotus expects it to hit 62 mph in less than three seconds . The car's performance can be customized through five driving modes: Range, City, Tour, Sport and Track.<br/><br/>EVs often require you to wait a long time for the battery to charge. Evija is different. It is equipped with technology designed to make charging the battery almost as fast as filling the gas pump. It takes just 12 minutes for the car to charge to 80 percent and just 18 minutes to fully charge.<br/><br/>The Lotus Evija seats two passengers and its cabin is accessed via a pair of dihedral doors. These doors are handleless to maintain the car's clean, sculptural aesthetic and are operated using the key fob. Once you enter the car, the doors can be closed using a switch on the roof console. Evija's electrically adjustable front seats feature a carbon fiber shell and thick microfibre-wrapped pads. The driver can manually adjust the tilt and length of the steering column, and there are two special storage areas located near the passengers' hip points. Standard interior equipment includes climate control and three-point seat belts; Four-point seat belts are offered as optional equipment. Overall, Evija's cabin has both a retro and modern look.<br/><br/>All Evija hypercars come with technological features such as Bluetooth connectivity and infotainment system. There is a digital display in front of the steering wheel that provides the driver with relevant information such as battery charge and remaining range. This is the car's only screen.
